Prevent Child Abuse and Neglect-Education to Empower Providers

Announcing the first of four trainings scheduled for 2020 focusing on the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. Our first training scheduled for April 6th will focus on sentinel injuries and will take place from 1:00-4:00 pm via webcast. In one afternoon, experts will provide evidence-based education and resources to improve your ability to recognize and prevent further injuries. This education is FREE for all Ohio Physicians, Social Workers, Advocates and Parents and will provide 3 hours of CME credit.

  • Nearly 1 in 3 abused children has been seen previously by a medical provider with an injury that was not recognized as abuse.
  • These injuries, known as “sentinel injuries”, are often minor – an isolated bruise or a small lesion to the mouth, for example.
  • Because they often appear so seemingly minor, these sentinel injuries may not be recognized as abuse.

Additional Training dates and topics to be announced soon!
