With COVID-19 transmissions still remaining high, it is more important than ever that children are protected against another common infection, the flu. During last year’s flu season, 188 children and teens died of complications from the flu, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. When children receive the flu vaccine, they can reduce the risk of contracting the flu, reduce the chance of hospitalizations, lessen symptoms, and prevent spread. The American Academy of Pediatrics is recommending anyone that is 6 months and older receive a flu vaccine before the end of October. Ohio AAP would like your help in spreading the message on the importance of children receiving flu vaccines. We have created a new social media toolkit full of graphics, facts, and resources to educate families on the importance of the flu vaccine while combating misinformation. Access the toolkit at the link below or visit http://ohioaap.org/covid19resources for additional immunization resources so we can keep Ohio’s children safe!
