It’s That Time of Year – ABP Recertification Season!

December brings many exciting annual events, but one that can easily be missed is the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) recertification deadline in December. As many Ohio AAP members are aware, this is the time when Maintenance of Certification (MOC) requirements are due in five-year cycles following initial certification.

We would like to remind all our members to take this opportunity to check your ABP diplomate portal and ensure you are on track for your next certification period. You can log in to your ABP portfolio by clicking here (using your ABP username and password) to view your credits earned. 100 Points of combined MOC Part II and Part IV credit are required every five years.

As a reminder, the four parts of maintenance of certification include:

  • Professional Standing (Part I)
  • Lifelong Learning and Self-Assessment (Part II)
  • At least 50 points required every five years
  • The Ohio AAP is an ACCME Accredited organization, offering CME learning opportunities that may also qualify for MOC Part II credit
  • Cognitive Expertise — Exam (Part III)
  • Improving Professional Practice — Quality Improvement (Part IV)
  • At least 50 points required every five years
  • The Ohio AAP is an ABP Portfolio Sponsor, offering QI projects that qualify for 25 MOC Part IV points or more each
