Step 1 - Review Enduring CME Information Human Papillomavirus Vaccines: Opportunities and Challenges This course is designed to provide resources for physicians to improve vaccination rates of HPV vaccination. Target Audience: The target audience is Ohio adolescents reached via primary care and other immunization providers. The secondary target population is Ohio physicians, nurses and office staff. Objectives: Following completion of this educational activity, learners should be able to: Needs Assessment/Gap: The 2014 National Immunization Survey showed HPV vaccination levels in Ohio are very low for both boys and girls: HPV for females: 1 shot 61.0%, 2 shots, 47.3%, 3 shots 35.2%; HPV for males: 36.8%, 29.3%, 23.3%. The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Report for Ohio, compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and distributed to states on a quarterly basis, reiterates that more efforts are needed to achieve the Health People 2020 HPV vaccination targets. The report shows there were no significant differences between 2013 and 2014 HPV vaccination rates.
