The Foundation serves as the charitable and community focused arm of the Ohio Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics, and supports the Chapter’s efforts by creating fiduciary and programmatic partnerships with community, corporate, state, and federal organizations for the purpose of securing support for programs that improve the lives of Ohio’s children and families.

Over the years, the Ohio AAP Foundation has helped support many initiatives and programs, including Put-a-Lid-on-It, Store It Safe, Ohio Champions for Vaccines, Reach out and Read, and Brush, Book, Bed. Learn more about the programs the Foundation is currently supporting below!

Store it Safe (SIS): SIS is a unique partnership of healthcare providers, firearm safety experts, and community organizations established to keep children safe from unintentional firearm deaths and teens safe from suicide by firearms and other lethal means.

  • Distributed 1,500 lock boxes to pediatric providers, health departments, schools, nonprofits and more! 

Put-a-LId-on-It: Since 2011, the Ohio AAP has operated the Put-a-Lid-on-It program to promote bike helmet safety by raising awareness and providing needed resources and education.

  • Distributed 10,000 helmets to 150 organizations in 52 counties across Ohio!

Ohio Champions for Vaccines (OC4V): OC4V is a group of Ohioans advocating for vaccines and spreading accurate information about the disease burden, safety, and effectiveness of vaccines.
