The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services approved a request in August for Ohio Medicaid to offer benefits for 12 months after a woman gives birth, up from the previous standard 60 days. Ohio received permission to offer the benefits for five years. An estimated 21,000 women could benefit from the extended coverage, according to a statement from HHS. The state started offering the extended benefits April 1, in advance of this final approval. Learn more about these expanded benefits by clicking here.
