Joyful Together is a research-based model that reduces toxic stress in children while building childhood resiliency through easy-to-do activities that can be added to everyday routines without any supplies, and creates stronger bonds and supports healthy development. Parents who use Joyful Together tell us about their increased feelings of closeness with their children, lowered stress, and how they add more play and joy into their daily routines.
OhioGuidestone created Joyful Together in response to the pressing need for it among our families and communities. About half of all Ohio children have at least one adverse childhood experience, while one in seven have three or more. Adverse childhood experiences lead to toxic stress, which impacts brain development and increases risk of long-term negative health effects; but Joyful Together proves that hope is not lost. Joyful Together enhances the child/caregiver relationships through joyful play, supporting childhood resiliency while reducing toxic stress and supporting healthy development in children (as supported by our randomized control studies).
Parents are ready and looking for more things they can do at home to support their children- and we have the perfect option. Joyful Together can be done by parents at home on their own by simply offering parents a book with activities written just for them, or combined with other health care services and even waiting rooms as it takes only 30 seconds to 3 minutes to do!
