Important Vaccination Information for Healthcare Providers Not Vaccinated by Hospitals & Healthcare Systems

The Ohio AAP knows many of our members who work on the front lines are still waiting to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and are left wondering when they can expect to receive it. Ohio AAP leadership has been working hard to address this issue through weekly calls with the Ohio Department of Health to advocate for community pediatricians to receive the vaccine through the hospitals. We will continue to advocate and keep you updated as we learn more.

For our primary care members, please note that public health departments will be vaccinating healthcare providers who are not being vaccinated by hospitals and health systems and are not enrolled as providers themselves.  These providers could include:

  • Home health workers
  • Hospice workers
  • Emergency medical services responders
  • Primary care practitioners
  • Free-standing emergency department, urgent care, pharmacy, and dialysis center providers not vaccinated by hospitals or healthcare systems
  • Dental providers
  • Public health employees who are at risk of exposure or transmission, such as vaccinators
  • Mobile unit practitioners
  • Federally-qualified health center providers
  • High-risk ancillary health care staff members

Each health department is handling the vaccinations through different systems – some through online sign ups, others through appointments, etc. Please contact your local health department to be put on the list to vaccinate yourself and your staff.
