Step 1 - Review Enduring CME Information

Maximizing Office Based Immunization (MOBI) On-Demand Learning

This course is designed to provide resources for physicians to improve vaccination rates of children birth to two years of age.

Target Audience: The target audience is pediatric healthcare providers, the majority of whom are general pediatricians and subspecialty pediatric physicians.

Objectives: Following completion of this educational activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Review Immunization Schedules
  2. Discuss MOBI Best Practices
  3. Discuss Strategies to Improve Immunization Rates

Needs Assessment/Gap: The 2014 National Immunization Survey showed that while Ohio’s immunization rates rose slightly from the year before, more work must be done. The survey showed the rate for the combined 7 vaccine series (≥4 doses of DTaP, ≥3 doses of Polio, ≥1 dose of measles-containing vaccine, Hib full series, ≥3 HepB, ≥1 Var, and ≥4 PCV) was 68.1%. That ranks Ohio 37th in the country.

The NIS data also identifies the vaccines that are under the Healthy People 2020 goal of 90% vaccination, which are at least two shots of the Hepatitis A vaccine and the rotavirus vaccine. Low vaccination rates in states are linked to infectious disease outbreaks. In 2014, Ohio experienced outbreaks of both the measles and mumps.
