Liquid Nicotine Toolkit

The following information is provided by the Ohio Chapter, American Academy of Ohio-AAP-Today-advocacyPediatrics (Ohio AAP) to assist our partners in advocating for Senate Bill 379, which would require liquid nicotine to be sold in child-proof packaging. Violators could be fined up to $1,000 per offense. SB 379 was introduced by Sen. Shannon Jones, a Springboro Republican, on October 28, 2014.

In 2013, 257 children nationwide were seen at a hospital after being poisoned with liquid nicotine. That number has risen to 481 as of mid-August, 2014 — including 15 visits to Ohio hospitals.
